ARES - News Letter

To all ARES groups in Eastern Ontario,

I am very pleased to announce that Lance Peterson, VA3LP has accepted the position of District Emergency Coordinator (DEC) for the Eastern Ontario ARES District, which was previously known as Seaway / Capital in accordance with EMO boundaries and names.

As many of you may know, Lance has been with the Prescott-Russell ARES group since 2000.  He has been the Assistant DEC since 2004 and in that capacity he has been invaluable to the District.  In the interim Lance has also stepped in as EC for the past year until a permanent EC for Prescott-Russell ARES group could be found.

Lance has been an advanced amateur radio operator since 1978. His background in the Canadian Armed Forces is an avionics technician on various military aircraft. While in the military he spent some time as an instructor and has since then applied that experience to provide Amateur Radio courses & ARES courses to interested amateurs.

I wish to thank Lance Peterson for accepting the DEC position for Eastern Ontario ARES which is in effect as of September 1st 2012.  His replacing me as DEC is what permitted me to accept the position of Section Manager for what is now known as 'Ontario East' (Section ONE).  I wish him well in his new position as DEC for the Eastern Ontario ARES District, and he will be able to count on my support when ever needed.

Please help me welcome Lance as your new DEC.

Cheers & 73 everyone,

Michael Hickey / Callsign VE3IPC
